HOLODOMOR COMMEMORATIONS IN LONDON

Commemorations of the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor took place yesterday at Westminster Abbey and today at the National Holodomor Memorial in London.

Participants at the commemorative event at the Abbey took part in Evensong before moving to the memorial to all innocent victims of oppression, violence and war where a Panakhyda service was concelebrated by Bishop Hlib Lonchyna and priests of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox and Ukrainian Catholic Churches. Children from the local Ukrainian school, the Ukrainian Youth Association and Plast placed candles around the memorial depicting the number 85. Ukraine’s Ambassador, Natalia Galibarenko, laid a wreath in memory of all Holodomor victims.

Wreaths and candles were also placed today at the National Holodomor Memorial following a following a Divine Liturgy and Panakhyda Services.
