The AUGB has sent a letter expressing good wishes to the newly elected Head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, Major Archbishop and Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk.
The new Church leader takes over from Patriarch Huzar who retired earlier this year due to poor health. He was enthroned on Sunday during a service held near the Patriarchal church of the Resurection of Christ in Kyiv.
Yesterday he headed a visit to the Vatican for a meeting between Ukrainian Catholic bishops and Pope Benedict XVI.
