A former Ambassador to the UK, Prof. Volodymyr Vasylenko, has signed a joint letter demanding the removal of President Viktor Yanukovych from power.
Citing Article 17 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Prof. Vasylenko was one of six signatories to a letter urging Ukrainian compatriots to protect "the state sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine...".
The letter warns that "Ukraine is in danger". After only two months in office, Viktor Yanukovych has rapidly usurped power, ignored the Constitution and laws of Ukraine and betrayed national interests. Ukraine's independence is now seriously threatened.
The open letter, published in the latest issue of "Tyzhden'", describes Viktor Yanukovych's Black Sea Fleet Agreement with the Russian Federation as "nothing but a national apostasy, an act of "selling" the state".
