According to the Ukrainian sports website, Champion, Ihor Surkis of the Ukrainian Football Federation announced that the issue of a unification of the Ukrainian and Russian Football leagues has been raised with the President of UEFA, Michel Platini.
The report says that Hryhoriy Surkis, who is President of the Ukrainian Football Federation, and Borys Kolesnikov, Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Euro 2012, mentioned the possibility of a merger of the two leagues to the Head of the European Football's governing body during a recent flight.
Ihor Surkis said that Platini's reaction was "normal". However, the idea still needs to be worked out.
He did not say whether his brother's vision also included the possibility of a unification of the two national sides and football federations.
