About UD

Ukrayinska Dumka was first published in 1945 as a means of communication with and between the thousands of Ukrainians who found themselves in the UK after the Second World War. It provided news and commentary about the political and social situation in Ukraine, news about community events in the UK, and a range of articles about Ukrainian religion, culture and traditions.

Since September 2004, it has been a fortnightly publication. Although it maintains the tradition of reporting about Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora, it now caters for a much wider audience, including young people from the second and third generations of the diaspora, and the new wave of Ukrainians who now live and work in the UK. Developments include colour pages, articles in English and a sports page.

Ludmila Pekarska currently heads an Editorial Team of UD and will always be happy to receive contributions about community events, ideas for articles, new creative work and letters.
